The Name - Assonance (EP)

(via myspace)

The Drums - "Money"

Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks - "Senator"

Malkmus-mail:

"Hey its May 2011-- and we have some updates. Yeah, the new album is called "Mirror Traffic". There was a lot of deliberation on the album title front but in the end we went the cryptic route--for some reason "Madonna in Love" didnt swing it with the test market. FOr a long stretch when it was gonna be called "L.A. Guns", but with lawsuits flying left and right these days, I was talked off the ledge by cooler minds. This is bad form to talked about what might have been, Negative Hypnosis, but in the age of tell-all I thought I'd join in. We recorded it with Beck over the last year. It took a while to finish due to "Life"--the actual "rock hours" were pretty reasonable........in fact 68% of the tracking, vocals included, took place on one day, a first for me. We pretty much left it all out there, so look for 50 minutes of tunage, 13 songs, and LOTS of good times. Also, Janet Weiss is not with us anymore--over the last year she started Wild Flag .....its a growing concern--We couldn't hit the daily double. We wish her well in her future shredding. ... THe silver lining --- Jake Morris of the Joggers and newly hatched Night Moves has assumed the throne, and it's a pretty swank fit. Look for us in all the usual places in September.
THats all for now. Thanks y'all

Should Have

Ouça "Should Have", faixa que estará no primeiro album do Cloud Nothings!

Eternal Summers (2010)

dream punk?

Eternal Summers will detoniate your chill vibe. While you’ve no doubt spent the hot months absorbing ultraviolets and soaking up beach-y sounds, Nicole Yun and Daniel Cundiff have been cutting loose in the back woods, creating their fuzziest, jangliest statement yet: Silver. The album, far-reaching and ambitious despite its minimalist drums-and-guitar cast, mixes 90-second fist-pumpers and dreamy, six-minute meditations, noisy highs, and uncomfortably quiet hums. Capturing the energy of their live shows and calling to mind early indie legends like the Raincoats, Galaxie 500, Beat Happening, and Unrest, they are only partially joking when they call their sound dream punk.(Kanine)

Louis is softly spoken with a shock of ginger hair

"We actually had to check to make sure this wasn’t a cover of some obscure older song that was released in the 1950s that no one cared about. It’s not! It’s new! And that certainly speaks to the power of Spectrals aka the one man band man Louis Jones. Look at that record cover! Even that could fool us. But whatever - you’re here for the song and “I Ran With Love But Couldn’t Keep Up,” is a killer. Lilting slide guitar, and those rounded, warm vocals…it’s enough to make us want to invent a time machine, climb in the time machine and then go back to the ’50s and dance with a girl in some overly bright diner to this song (that’s what they did, right?). But it’s cold out, which means we’re feeling lazy, which means we’re just going to put it on repeat. Now you can too." (Fader)

We Have Sound (2005)

shake to the dancefloor

With We Have Sound, Tom Vek lives up to his hype and proves he is more than the sum of his numerous influences. In many ways the album's mix of funky guitars, electronic flourishes and belligerent beats seem to sit alongside other new wave revivalartists such as Bloc Party and Franz Ferdinand. But additional elements of lo-fi rock and even jazz make it hard to define, though very easy to dance to. (bbc)

New Chance (2007)

"something special, something real"

'Producing the album themselves and barely breaking the 30-minute mark, TTA cram a truckload of influences into this punchy and concise piece of work, from the undying optimism of wonky pop as only the Swedes can do it ('Something Special') to 80's soaked rave-era beats ("Miami"), all linked by their shamelessly catchy synth-fuelled choruses. Through out many of the songs on A New Chance, the band seem to be searching for "something special, something real," for "soul that can't be bought or sold," or just "something that moves us tonight".' Eternal Summers (2009)

Eternal Summers is: Nicole Yun + Daniel Cundiff

"The inland duo’s music comes out of the forests of Roanoke, VA, where the mountain vistas are inspiring but the scene is mostly cover bands. Both members are a part of the Magic Twig Community, a collective of nine like-minded musicians that cherish boundless creativity and weirdo indie pop. When Yun, who sings and plays guitar, moved to Roanoke, she originally played with another drummer, but when he bailed before a gig, Cundiff jumped in. What resulted was something very, very punk, and Yun and Cundiff knew they had the right musical chemistry. That’s when Eternal Summers was born." (Kanine Recs)

Libraries (2010)

a linguagem do amor..

"The Love Language is a fortunate by-product of frontman North Carolina native Stuart McLamb's rudderless mid-20s, where a tempest of breakup, inebriation, and incarceration found the abandoned songwriter embarking on a storage-space recording project to slow his seeming disintegration. On sophomore effort Libraries, the equilibrium of frontman McLamb's madness and producer BJ Burton's discipline has rendered an album in the classic sense, in which no song is expendable and no passage is without purpose. Libraries captures Spector-esque walls of reckless sound, cavernous drums, middle-school percussion, and moody swells of stringed instruments, all decorated hastily with stray leads, which bleed beautifully all over everything."
